The opening of the Chase for the Sprint Cup was delayed a total of 6 and a half hours, but as the nighttime creeped in, so did the action in Chicago.

Matt Kenseth and his team just look strong. Kyle Busch gave him a good run, as he ran great all night as well. Busch would end up second. Harvick picked up a third place finish, while the other three in the top six were also Chase contenders.

A couple of blown engines, including Chase driver Joey Logano were probably due to the pent up nature of the engines, then a forceful shove back into RPM over 9000 for long durations. Either way, some got lucky, and some just didn't have the chips fall in their favor. Jeff Gordon ended up a lap down with a cut tire with 80 laps to go, but was able to recover from way back and earn a nice sixth place finish. Jimmie Johnson battled a couple of adversities and landed a fifth place ending.

Next week, we visit New Hampshire. We'll go 300 miles on the mile-long track on a hopefully dry and sunny Sunday afternoon.
