After months of speculation, looks like Metallica has run out of excuses or a good reason not to begin work on a new record.

Guitarist Kirk Hammett has given us hope that the band has indeed decided to finally begin work on the follow-up to 2008's 'Death Magnetic' disc.

Hammett shared with Billboard.com that Metallica will in fact start work on new material in the next few weeks. Hammett had this to say "When we start, that's going to be our main priority, and we're pretty excited about it because we've been saying we need to start working on this album, but we've been procrastinating greatly with it," he says. "We've pretty much come up with every sort of excuse we can not to start work on the album, but we've run out of excuses, so we pretty much have to start work on it now."

Hopefully, we'll have new Metallica sometime in 2015...Hopefully!

Until then, check out Metallica on the Grammy Awards January 26th.
