A federal judge has ruled that one of those silly "religious freedom" laws is unconstitutional and blocked it from going into effect.

Sorry, but I don't tread lightly on this topic. I find it odd that anyone thinks this is a gay thing or right or left thing at all. It seems to me it's a basic human right to be happy and do what you want with your own self as long as you don't hurt anyone else. These bills are hateful attempts to strike back at the gay communities after they were granted the right to marry.  The judge in this case confirmed that fact saying the state was being punitive with this quote:

"the state's attempt to put LGBT citizens back in their place"

The judge also said that the state "put it's thumb on the scale to favor some religious beliefs over others".  The judge actually issued a 60 page ruling and ripped Mississippi for the unconstitutional law.

Let's get to the reality of this situation. Unless you have a public service job, like say a marriage clerk, this is never going to be a problem for you. If you don't want to make cakes for gay people, then I'm pretty sure most gay people won't want you to make a cake for them. If you don't want to deal with people outside of your religion, then go live in a religious community like the Amish (who still have to do somethings they don't like since they live in America).

There's no way you're going to be judged for being good, considerate and awesome to people. It's just not going to happen.  Striking down this Mississippi law was the right thing to do and hopefully the politicians will quit wasting our time during this election year with such ignorant and unconstitutional attempts to appeal to a bigoted base.
