So I started out with a top five, then a top seven, then said okay, top ten.  These are my ten favorite rock tracks of the year.  There might be a few surprises in here for some of you. Those of you who know me though, know that I listen to a WIDE array of music from most genres and across many decades.

10. Moth-Hellyeah.  You would probably never guess, but I was a HUGE Mudvayne fan.  I really like it when Chad takes it down a notch and allows a little more "natural" emotion to come through.  I'm so pumped that the guys are heating up the rock charts again.

9. Deep Six-Marilyn Manson. No one does it like Marilyn. There are people who think the "bloom is off the rose" with him, but something is happening. He just finished a great roll on Sons Of Anarchy and he's selling concert tickets again. People are awaiting the return of "The Pale Emperor"

8. I Don't Want To Be Here Anymore-Rise Against.  This band may the most important band in rock that is still making music. They fill in a bit of the void left by System Of A Down and Rage when it comes to music that means something.

7. The Negative One-Slipknot. You don't know how many times I listened to this over and over when it came out. As luck would have it, I was setting up a p.a. each day for Nightmare On 19th Street so I was able to listen to it MEGA-LOUD.

6. Forgive and Forget-You Me At Six. This track is so new that if it "makes it", it will probably be on 2015 rock charts. It's a bit alternative for some people, but I don't put boundaries on my listening like that.

5. Angel Of Mercy-Black Label Society.  I think this is BLS at their finest. I don't understand why it wasn't one of the biggest tracks of the year. In my brain I could see this being used on every t.v. show (like Sons Of Anarchy). Just great heartfelt stuff from Zakk.

4. Coconut Dracula-Islander. I have been a personal champion of this band and this song. I have no idea what the hell it means; I just like it because it sounds fresh.  The band has just released the title track to their new c.d. called "New Wave" and it's pretty good too.

3. Bloody Angel-Avatar.  I am a SUCKER for these guys. I love just about everything I've ever heard from them and when I saw them this past year they tore the stage up. I am hoping they continue to make beautiful noise for years to come.

2. Get Hurt-The Gaslight Anthem. This is, without a doubt, my most listened to song of 2014. It's not a hard rock type song. It's a little old school and way sentimental. It just hits me in the heart for some reason (and it's catchy as hell).

1. Gotta Get It Right-Sixx A.M. This was my favorite "radio" track of the year (meaning songs that were released to radio and no just overall). I was completely stunned when the record company backed off of promoting it because some radio stations out there thought it sounded "too classic rock" (as if "classic rock" even played new music).
