The retired wheel-man with the legendary name was found dead after he apparently shot himself Thursday.

Authorities responded to a call at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincoln County, North Carolina where Trickle reportedly called in and said "there would be a body and it would be his."

They found Trickle's body at the location of the phone call beside his truck.

Trickle was obviously known for his great name, personality, and prowess, especially on Midwestern short tracks. New frontrunners like Brad Keselowski said Trickle "was the superstar of that style" and that Trickle "meant a lot to the local short-track racers."

Trickle was 71.
