Like it or not, putting a Nativity scene in our state capitol is a political statement. It also opens doors to statements from all other groups. You see, the only way this is "legal" is to allow everyone to participate (Oklahoma is seeing this kind of farce play out right now). This means Muslims, Satanists, Festivus lovers and anyone else who requests space. Before you know it, you just end up making a joke out of everyones beliefs and becomes a huge waste of time.

My question simply is "why"?  Why add a distraction to our lawmakers? Why open this can of worms? Why even allow a challenge to the separation of church and state?  Why? The answer is simple, to establish the Christian religion as "the religion of Texas".  So once again, why?  We all know that Christians dominate the Texas landscape. We can't go fifty feet without seeing a church.  Why can't we leave religion for the home, church and other places where Christians go for fellowship?

School should be for the "three r's" (and "religion" isn't one of them). Government should focus on things like roads, jobs and lowering taxes.  We have plenty of churches to focus on religion.

I've made no secret that I currently identify myself as an atheist, but I don't run into churches and yell out my views. I don't demand an atheism symbol be displayed at the capitol. I, in fact, don't care if you don't respect my beliefs either.  I have my beliefs and you have yours, I don't think ANYONE should push their beliefs on the masses at a public place. Placing this nativity scene at the capitol is what we call "good old fashion sh@t-stirring". Want proof?  The people who brought the scene aren't even from Texas. It's a group from Illinois that goes around and does this state to state.  If this kind of thing is going to happen, I wish it was at least Texans making the effort.

Disclaimer: This is a blog, it is not a radio station. It has NOTHING to do with what is discussed on-air or the music we play. Opinions expressed are those of the author. Sorry, it's a great big world and sometimes people will have different views than you. Now, one last thing, instead of posting "I'm not listening to your radio station anymore" or calling me a "Godless heathen", how about you do the Christian thing and just  forgive me? Oh, and Art, I WILL play some Iron Maiden.
