I'm glad I was asleep when this happened. Otherwise, I would've kicked a hole in my TV. Thank goodness it wasn't one of my favorite shows, either.

There are several ways for the TV station folks to cover storms, and KCBD has decided to settle for the worst the options I've ever seen. I guess they could flat out preempt the programming, but I'd rather not get my show at all and just pick it up on Hulu or something later.

What they have started doing is putting a pop-up screen OVER the programming, covering up a portion of the screen, THEN turning the audio down from the program and running the weatherman rambling on and on (this was done during the TV show "Blindspot"). This is not the way to go.

First off, let's look at the people you're servicing. Most of the folks who watch live TV are actually on the upper end of the age spectrum, and you're doing them no good with a pop-up covering only a portion of the screen. Let's not forget, lots of these folks haven't upgraded to big screens.

Next, are we really expected to follow our show while all the graphics and audio are overriding what's going on? There's just too much going on. And you know what? The things the actors say are kind of important to figuring out what's going on.

There's two obvious answers to important weather coverage. Either put it in the commercial breaks or time delay the show. Right now, you're just ruining it for people who want the weather AND the people who want the show.
