United Supermarkets has announced that in 2016 they will open a new store at the corner of FM 1585 and Indiana Avenue.

Construction is set to begin in late fall of 2015 and is expected to be completed by late summer/early fall 2016.

According to Robert Taylor, president of United Supermarkets, the 56,000-square foot location will "anchor a larger location that will include other retailers." The store will also feature a separate 2,500-square foot United Express convenience store with a drive-thru.

Director of Marketing Ron Bonacci said that the new store will "showcase a new look and feel" for Lubbock shoppers, including fresh sushi and expanded food options, plus an expanded dining room.

The produce section will also include an extensive organic section and a wide selection of beer and wine will also be available.

The new facility will also create new jobs for Lubbock.
