Scare Factor, a website hosting Haunted House locations and reviews, recently put together a list of 31 must-see haunts in America.

Lubbock's own Nightmare On 19th Street came in at no. 10 on the list, which was based off more than 80,000 votes.

This is a huge honor, especially with hundreds of haunts from all over America among the competitors.

Nightmare On 19th Street began almost 10 years ago. Initially, the main Haunted House, Blood Moon Manor, was hosted inside the Pavilion at the West Texas Amphitheater. The secondary haunts, Clowntown and The Witches Walk, were located by the Winchester and over the hill in a seldom-used valley inside the grounds.

After two years of this layout, the attraction was relocated to its current location in the rear parking lot of the Lone Star Amptiheater. Not long after this relocation, a fourth attraction was added.

Nightmare still consists of four haunts. There is the original, and growing, Blood Moon Manor. The outdoors area is now called "The Wasteland." Then, its pirates, jungles and more in "The Lost City." And finally, "Clowntown 3D."

The attractions surround a midway/queue line area, with various spooky visitors and photo ops.

Staff at the park consists of around 150 people during the season and a dozen or so year round. This year's edition of Nightmare On 19th Street gets underway Friday, September 30th.

Nightmare on 19th Street is truly a unique attraction for a town the size of Lubbock. It's a real eye opener when you drive back to the park for the first time and see the sheer scale of the venture.
