I don't really mind if people "open carry" their firearms. In fact, I'd much rather know that you have one than for you to have it concealed. It almost seems backwards to me that you can hide a gun but you can't have one showing.

A lot of people like to say "The 2nd Amendment Is My Gun License".  They think that by being born in America, they have a right to own a firearm and that's it.  Truth be told, I don't think I can even dispute that, but it does seem ridiculous that there not be SOME training required to handle a dangerous weapon. We make people take special training to handle pesticides, work with electricity, and even to serve alcohol, so you think a little gun training would be a-okay. Heck, I  think that some gun stores would even offer some training for free with the purchase of a weapon.

I would also say that proponents also better be worried about a backlash from businesses, restaurants, arenas and such.  For instance, you can't carry a weapon to see the Cowboys play, and you can't take it into a Chili's, and then you can't take it into a mall, so what's the point in having it if you can only roam around outside your house with it? I think what will ultimately happen is that it will be legal, but societal pressure will make it really tough to go anywhere with your firearm.

Anyways, happy shooting to you.  For those of you willing to step up and train, I commend you on being leaders in your community. I hope you will educate those people who aren't willing to put the time into being responsible gun owners.
