I found yesterdays "discussion" of the confederate flag rather repellant. It was pretty much a lesson on how NOT to discuss a topic with so many logical fallacies that I could have claimed "bingo" on my poster.

Leading the Facebook post was this "If you want to display it, that's on you, but it should no longer be used in any governmental display".  Funny how people ignored that part. No one wants to take it from you or take away your "heritage". The topic being discussed was that there was no place for it in government (and once again, even the great state of Texas came to the same conclusion and went to the supreme court to protect that decision).

I find it telling that people will go out of their way to offer up a picture of a black man with a confederate flag, but ignore hundreds of pictures of lynchings. Anyhow, that's playing whack-a-mole with the trolls arguments.  I have no time to address each argument. If you want to know what the civil war was about, read the Texas Declaration of Causes, I found it to be a real eye opener myself.  Once again we've reached a point in a conversation where people are more invested in being "right" than being cool to each other and that's where my video comes in. This video contains mild profanity.

*Note, I errantly mentioned South Carolina along with Texas and Walmart. It was Virginia, and now Amazon, Sears, Etsy, Google and Ebay have joined the list of places that will no longer carry confederate flag merchandise. NASCAR has also stated that they will no longer use the flag in any official capacity.
