Oregon came out of the gate gunning, but Ohio State quickly dialed up an answer that turned into a stark exclamation point on the team's season.

In reality, the Buckeyes were considered to be the least favorite to win the title, clawing their way into the 4th and final spot in the inaugural playoff system.

The Buckeyes quickly hushed doubters after defeating Alabama, and then again tonight, running wild against the Ducks. Ezekiel Elliott showed he's a young man against boys, breaking loose against a defense that seemed a step behind all night. Elliott ended up with 246 yards and four touchdowns. Ohio State's defense held the Ducks' offensive onslaught from truly materializing, as Heisman winner Marcus Mariota had trouble all game finding his rhythm.

I can certainly say I truly didn't see this coming, but all in all, congrats to the Buckeyes and I'm certainly glad I got to see a great year of college football.
