Well, of course we had a flock of military helicopters fly over Lubbock pre-911.  We needed one more thing to put people on edge.  I'm not buying into any of this paranoia for two reasons.

The number one reason I don't listen to all the paranoid crap these days is, because it's mostly, if not all, crap.  That's it.  Some kid Photoshops an image or someone asks a "what if" question, later leaving the "what if" off and all of a sudden you have crazy tales of terrorists at the border or the government listening to you giving your wife the grocery list.  I'm just not going to waste brain cells on rumors coming from dinky web sites that claim to have "the real news".

Next up, let's try some logic.  Why have a bunch of cave people in the middle east beating down a bunch of already beaten down folks and now some people will claim that they are now "eight miles from our border".  Okay, first off we are talking about "tribal leaders", not high-tech assassins.  I'm sure these people would love to do some damage to us if they could, but lets remember that a lot of these people still wipe their rears with their bare hands. They are not what you'd call "advanced" enough to plot an overthrow of the U.S.  I've even heard "Mexican drug gangs are helping them".  Now why would they do that?  Drug gangs can't sell drugs to dead Americans.  They'd probably be the first people to wipe out any terrorist that headed up this way.

I could literally sit here and pick all this nonsense apart all day but then again, I'm in the media and you probably think someone tells me what to say (you'd think they could get a better spokesman than my dumb ass, but oh well..).   So what is the point of all of this?  I would literally like an apology from all the people who post this paranoid nonsense online when none of it comes to pass.  It's been  more than a week since I first heard that ISIS was eight miles away from the U.S., don't you think they'd be here by now?  Do you think they stopped for some tacos?  Seriously, apologize for passing this dumb sh*t along.

With all this said, the anniversary of 911 IS tomorrow. You should always be alert, but there is a difference between being "alert" and being "paranoid".  "Alert" means you're keeping your eyes open for anything unusual, "paranoid" means you're expecting something unusual.  Let's all send out some good vibes and hope that everyone has a safe observance of this awful anniversary and that we continue to remember, but move on, as a nation.
