So Aaron Lewis is in a bit of hot water for blowing the National Anthem. He has already asked for forgiveness, but it begs the question: "when are we going to quit taking this crap so seriously?"

I believe I am as patriotic and loyal to my country as the next guy; I pay my taxes, vote, support our troops and I support the President of the United States of America no matter who it is because he's OUR President. What I don't get hung up on is stupid symbols and rituals like the Pledge of Allegiance, flag burning and "The National Anthem."

Now keep in mind, the Star-Spangled Banner being our "National Anthem" is about as important as having a "National reptile." (Efforts are now underway to make the Garter Snake the National Reptile of the U.S.)

In short, I don't see the National Anthem as being any more important than your High School Fight Song.

I was asked by our videographer (and frequently aggravated Digital Managing Editor Justin) what my thoughts on all of this was. You can watch my spiel above, and check out Aaron dropping the ball below.
