Once again, this is not an ad. This a report for guys and gals that like to throw down for lunch or dinner. On the West Coast, pastrami is much more prevalent than it is here. I imagine the same would be true on the east coast. Here it's often part of a cold sandwich or processed in a way that does a disservice to the meat.

Now apparently there are different locations of Pete's, that may or may not have different owners. I'm here to rave on one you probably didn't even know existed.

The Pete's that I've eaten at over the last two weeks in a row is the one at 529 34th (it's east of I 27). The pastrami sandwiches are hot, juicy and way over packed with meat. The meat has that salty, cured taste and is just fatty enough to stay super juicy. (Most people trim pastrami too much and it takes way too much flavor away from the meat.)

The pastrami is served classic-style with just yellow mustard and dill pickles (cheese should never be put on a pastrami).

A friend and I tried to Google this location and couldn't even find it.  I then made a note of the phone number on the sign. For call-in orders, it's (806) 762-8995.
