Coming across this article in a popular Austin magazine caught my eye, mainly because it’s usually Austin that's praised for its music and art scene. But having a writer from an Austin magazine praise Lubbock? Yes, please.

Author Niki Jones of Austin Texas Woman Magazine was pleasantly surprised during her recent visit to Lubbock. It seems her impression of Lubbock before visiting was like that of most outsiders, thinking all we have to offer is Texas Tech University and dull, flat land.

Her trip to Lubbock included the popular Robert Bruno Steel House in Ransom Canyon, the First Friday Art Trail, a tour of Texas Tech and through downtown, and several restaurants and wineries.

She gave several recommendations and advised her Austin readers to skip the drive and just take the one-hour flight from Austin to Lubbock instead.

Thanks for your article, Niki! You come back anytime. Lubbock has some awesome radio stations, too.
