There are NO mermaids. Now, grow up! Seriously, a "mockumentary" on Animal Planet has led to tons of gullible people believing that fishtailed women are swimming around and sunning themselves on rocks.

It's the second biggest moment for Animal Planet (the death of Steve Irwin being the first). The channel aired a show called "Mermaids: The New Evidence" which featured fake footage, really horrible acting and a very quick disclaimer saying it was "science fiction based on scientific theory" (in other words "bullsh@t). Two clips from the show have went viral with morons trading them around as if they were real.
