With the 123rd pick in the 4th round of the 2018 MLB Draft, the St. Louis Cardinals selected Texas Tech Red Raider Steven Gingery.

This marks the second straight year that the St. Louis Cardinals have selected a Red Raider pitcher; they took Jacob Patterson in the 13th round in 2017.

While this hasn't been the year that Gingery had hoped for, he still has an impressive track record in his time at Texas Tech. He was the 2017 Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, the first unanimous 1st Team All-American in Texas Tech Baseball history, and owns a career record of 14-3, 2.23 ERA, 161.2 innings, 173 strikeouts.

Gingery has until Wednesday, August 15th,2018 to decide if he will return to the Red Raiders ball club or if he will commit to the St. Louis Cardinals organization and report to the minors.
