The anniversary of the Lubbock Tornado (or tornadoes) is coming up on May 11th.

I live among the tornado ruins. Every morning when I drive to work I pass the remains of a house that were hit by the tornadoes. Sadly, for the longest time, a former resident, whom I'm told lost her family in the tornado, used to replace a few bricks here and there. It's a very sobering reminder of both the destruction and the loss.

This anniversary is a good reminder to take those tornado warnings and watches seriously, it will happen again, maybe not here, but somewhere.

26 people were killed in the 1970 tornado. Texas Tech put together this short form video a couple years back and it gives you a lot of insight into the damage, destruction, and death that occurred.
