When I threw it down this past weekend in Austin at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, one of the first stops I wanted to make was at the Dimebag Hardware tent where you can score some pretty cool merch.

When I first went to the tent I scored a pretty cool shirt and some guitar picks but I didn't see Rita Haney the widow of the late great Dimebag Darrell. But the tent was really cool and I was stoked just to get my hands on some gear.

A little time past through the day and in between the Amon Amarth set and Mastodon set I walked by the tent and I saw Rita Haney taking pictures and siging autographs. I knew this was my chance to give her a big ol' hug!

As I waited in line I found myself being filled with all kinds of emotion. I mean if anyone knew Dimebag Darrell it was her. They have been together for years and years and then he was gone.

When it was my turn all I could say was, I loved Dimebag and I know you did too. She gave me a huge hug and she signed my shirt and took a picture with me.

I know that this isn't a great story or anything like that, but I respect this lady so much, instead of feeling sorry for herself she stands under a tent and celebrates the life of Dimebag Darrell who we were all robbed of.

Thank you Rita for your time and I will always stand up to give you my chair.
