Family and friends of Sammy Castaneda, who lost his life in a traffic crash Sunday night in Lubbock, will gather tonight (Sept. 22) for a fundraising event.

According to Castaneda's brother Roman Martinez, the BBQ/fundraiser will happen at Thrive Church, located at 3017 39th Street, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The event is being spearheaded by Cam Munger, an Amarillo-based biker, who is making the trip to Lubbock to show solidarity and remember Castaneda.

Castaneda was killed after he was hit from behind by a pickup truck while at a red light late Sunday afternoon. He was riding with Martinez, who witnessed the crash.

The driver of the pickup truck, James Albert Pritchard, was arrested and charged with Manslaughter. His bail was set at $50,000.
