Okay gang, headphones have been a part of my life since I was a kid.  When I was young, headphones were a "thing" to that you didn't piss off your parents with loud music. I also use headphones ever single day when I go to work. I'm also constantly around people that are buying new headphones. I have only found ONE reason to spend more than $20 on a set of headphones.

The only reason to spend more that $20 on a pair of headphones is for durability. Even then, if you shop discount stores like I do, you can find some very durable ones for $20 or less. Let's compare that to a pair of "Beats" headphones where you're looking at about a $129.00 entry price (and some are a ton more).  Simply put, I can buy and break six pairs of headphones for the cost of a pair of "Beats". I'm fairly confident I would break the "Beats" by the time I would have gone through six pairs of the cheapies.  I also say this giving "Beats" the benefit of the doubt, I have no idea if they are durable or not.

So, if you think they "look cooler" good on you and your purchase. I prefer to put my headphones on and listen to them and I'm just not hearing a difference. "Beats" tend to kick up the bass, but I prefer to hear my music the way the artist recorded it, not the way the headphone manufacturer thinks I should hear it.  Even then, there are plenty of cheapies that also kick up the bass if you want that.
