Shallowater ISD Mourns Death of Two Students in Rollover Accident

Two students of Shallowater ISD lost their lives on Monday in a rollover accident near the intersection of County Road 6100 and Farm to Market Road 179.

Justice Chavez, 17, and Alicia Ramos, 16, failed to yield right of way at the intersection and collided with a pickup. Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene; Ramos was ejected from the car and taken to University Medical Center in critical condition before succumbing to her injuries, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. It is unclear who was driving.

A press release from Shallowater ISD said the district was thankful for the close-knit community that pulls together for support during tragedies like these.

A memorial fund for the two has been set up at Peoples Bank, according to KAMC News.
