75% of Lubbock was blacked out the other night.  A 'boil water' proclamation had to be issued because of possible back flow problems.  It seems like there should have been a little more fail-safes in the system to keep things like this from happening, or should there?  More after the jump.

The city says a lightening interceptor blew causing other lightening interceptors to blow resulting in 54% of the city (as well as New Deal and others) losing power.  It seems a little ridiculous that all of this is tied into the same grid, but hey, what do we know?  Let us know; Are You Happy With Your Electric Service?
