We had this discussion on the air, and I think it's time we take it to the people. I don't know that I ever had to give my kid a full on spanking, but you have to give them a swat or two to keep them at least safe.

Violence of any kind always seems unnecessary, but what do you do if your toddler keeps taking a fork over to an electrical outlet? This is where lines get very very blurry. How much discipline is enough and how much is an unnecessary beat down?

I know I got my butt whooped with a belt. In high school I got "licks" (swatted with a paddle) quite a bit.  I can tell you the high school stuff was ZERO deterrent. For us jackasses it was almost a game to see who could survive a paddling.

So back to the beginning, I think almost everyone can agree on a swat and a firm "no", but what kind of offenses do you think are worth a real wearing out? And if your kid does deserve a real spanking is it with your hand, a belt, a pingpong paddle or what?  I realize that some of you won't want to talk about this openly, and that's cool. I just think it's kind of interesting to get an idea of what punishment fits what kiddie crime.  What I think is going to be MOST interesting is I bet theres a lot of you who got spanked who just can't bring themselves to spank their kids.
