I would rather be loved by a few than liked by many.  I think that's a pretty bold statement, and granted my "few" still means thousands, but I think you get the idea. I think it's something you should strive for too.

There is a gang mentality out there and it comes with a heaping helping of meanness. If you people don't like what you're saying you should "shut up" and apparently if you have certain occupations you don't have a right to have an opinion.  I guess that begs the question, who does deserve to have an opinion?  Are there professional "opinion havers" that I'm somehow aware of?

I could easily be the most liked radio announcer in this town. I know exactly what to say and who to say it to. Rest assured I'd have a ton of people yelling "yeah" to everything I said and I'd smoke fat cigars with other people who love to manipulate others.  There's one problem though, I don't care if I'm popular or not.  I said this about my former partner Dale Dudley before. He wanted to be on the radio while I just wanted to be around the radio.  Fortunately for him he's enormously talented and in a town that is a bit more accepting of different opinions.  I have to resign myself to the fact that I live in a town that has been radicalized to ways other than my own and I just really don't care what people think of me. That's okay, I'm confident in my opinions. I'm also confident that they are just opinions. I haven't take up standing up on street corners yet.

I don't mind being a voice for the minority in town. I'd rather back a small guy up than help a bully out any day.  Some of you may even dispute this, but that's okay. This blog is about one thing and that is staying true to your heart. I hope all of you will continue to live your lives this way.  Now, go and be awesome to each other.
