Steelers Release Hines Ward After 14 Years [VIDEO]

What do you do with a four-time Pro Bowl selection and a Supr Bowl, MVP  who has without a doubt been an integral part of a successful NFL football team for years?A guy who is a franchise's all-time leader in just about every meaningful receiving category ; a dude that has  1,000 catches, 12,083 yards and 85 receiving touchdowns under his belt...

Duh you release him...

Say it aint so, Art Rooney has decided to let wide reciever Hines Ward go after 14 years with the organization. During his 14 years with the Steelers, Ward has helped propel the team to 3 AFC championships and a pair of Super Bowl wins.

But alas the all mighty dollars wins over talent and dedication.

Many Steeler fans are unhappy about that move... ummmm Woody.... considering all Hines has given to the organization over the past 14 years. What really sucks is that Ward was willing to take a huge salary cut in order to stay in Steeler nation.

In a statement about his release Hines said  he felt like he still had more football left in him and did not want to end his time with the Steelers that way, he went on to say he had more to give to the NFL and that he "gave my heart and soul for (the fans) every down and I will always bleed black-and-gold.''

It's a sad day for Steeler nation....
