Stone Sour And Slipknot Now Have One More Thing In Common

Corey Taylor and Jim Root do double duty in Slipknot and Stone Sour.  Last year Slipknot suffered a huge tragedy with the death of bass player Paul Gray.  Now Stone Sour has parted ways with their bass player.  More details after the jump.

I was fortunate enough to see two dates of the Avalanche Tour.  Unbeknownst to me (because I was at the front on the other side of the stage) between those two dates, Stone Sour traded out bass players.  Bass player Shawn Economaki had left the tour for unknown reasons.  Now, various band members are reporting that Shawn Economaki has left the band.  The band says that they are still completely cool with Shawn, he's just taking care of his own business.  The band also says that they are jamming in the studio with what they call "a mystery dude that shreds in the studio".

No announcements have been made about the "mystery dudes' identity, but many on the web are speculating that it may be Jason Newsted (formerly of Metallica) Twiggy from Marilyn Manson's band, or even Piggy D who did time with Rob Zombie.
