Black Sabbath, the world’s most iconic and trailblazing purveyors of heavy metal, may get a day named after them in their hometown of Birmingham, England. Birmingham City Council member Philip Parkin has basically secured every metalhead’s vote for the rest of his political career after calling to create ‘Black Sabbath Day’ to pay tribute to the band and their recent reunion.
English metal maniacs Bring Me the Horizon have offered a fresh update about the status of their upcoming album.
Earlier today, we reported that Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian missed last night’s show in Kansas City, Mo., due to an unspecified illness. Now, the band has released a statement explaining that Ian is battling a severe viral infection that caused him to be hospitalized in Los Angeles. In addition, the band also has announced that drummer Charlie Benante has left the tour to be at the bedside of his terminally ill mother in New York.
Gigantour, the mega-metal tour featuring Megadeth, Motorhead, Lacuna Coil and Volbeat, kicked off last night in Camden, N.J., and it certainly seemed to live up to its name.

Filling in for Ian at the show were the two guitarists Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson from co-headliners Testament, as well as musicians from Death Angel who all switched off during different songs throughout Anthrax’s set.

The tour will be the second leg of the ‘Return of the World Maggot Tour.’ It was the first leg of the trek that witnessed the tragic passing of GWAR guitarist Cory “Flattus Maximus” Smoot.
