Television Station Website Pulls Classless Move With Tattoo Picture

I don't know why this one bothers me so much, but it does. An individual with facial tattoos was booked into the Lubbock Country Jail. KLBK chose to take that one picture, out of many booked this week, and  presented it in a way that was pretty much saying "hey look at this freak".

It's true the person had facial tattoos, dermal implants and even odd contact lenses. A person doesn't really do that to themselves unless they want to be noticed. This isn't about what that person wants, it's about the dignity you should give to others. I'm proud to say that most of the people who commented on the picture shared my feeling that it was really exploitive.  I can't even find their original post to link to, so maybe they reconsidered their decision to publish it and pulled it.

We all live and learn. I was a part of the Dixie Chicks backlash, but regretted it soon after. It was just too much hate for too small a mistake. I try to do better each day, even though it's my job to make fun of people and the situations they get into. I just can't currently abide by kicking somebody when they're down. It just seems different when it's somebody that's in your community.  I also am WHOLLY against judging someone base on their appearance. I don't have to tell you that there are great people with tattoos and complete jerks without.

I hope this person finds what they're looking for in life when they are released. I also hope the good people at KLBK recognized this was a mistake and try to do better themselves.
