Ten Commandments Removed From Oklahoma State Capital After Dark
Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers provided extra security to keep out protesters.
News 9 in Oklahoma provided the footage of the massive, 6-foot statues being removed.
The report says they were ordered to be removed by October 12 after the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled in June that he monuments violated a constitutional prohibition on the use of public property to support a "system of religion."
The state had to pay a private contractor $4,700 to remove it. The cost to move and place them 10 blocks away at the Oklahoma Public Affairs Office was paid using private funds.
The removal has been very controversial in Oklahoma.
