Sorry for the snarky title here, but there's some pretty good reasons why I rarely even look at comments from my critics.  So, here you go.

I used to think that Facebook was an "open forum" for discussion, but it's not. It's just a bunch of people, who don't know how to argue, arguing. That is where we're at as a society today. For instance, there is literally nothing the President could say that his detractors wouldn't turn around and misinterpret for their own benefit. Heck if the President can't get any respect, I have no chance at all.  Anyways, if you really want to chat with me, just private message me. If you want to talk, I'm there. If you want to put on a show on Facebook, you go enjoy yourself.  With that in mind, here's why I no longer answer my critics on Facebook.

#1. I have usually said all I want to say in the blog. I take great care to read and re-read my blog, my sources, and really think about what I want to say. Practically nothing is "off the cuff".

#2. People don't usually don't read the blog, they just comment on what they think is. People are ridiculous about this. I even put up a poll the other day and tons didn't even click through to see the poll, they just commented on the post. There was never any better proof that people don't get there are stories beyond the headlines.

#3. They think they know me, but they don't. I have friends of all colors, nationalities, sexual preferences and so on. I do more for charity and my community than my critics. I've yet to be criticized by anyone who makes an effort to make Lubbock or the world a better place. It's always people who just want to tear down others.

#4. Thier qualifications aren't on display. So you think I don't know squat about a topic, then I look at your profile and you serve nachos? I'm not disrespecting your profession, I'm saying don't call me out if you don't want to be called out. There's a lot of folks out there who set themselves up as "experts" who really know nothing.

#5. They're just looking to troll any comment.  We get it Art. We do play Iron Maiden (actually Art is hilarious and I've been WASTED with that dude).

#6. They can't articulate into words what your point is. I'm sorry, some people just can't make a point. It may be their thought process, their grammar, or the fact that they're so frustrated that they can't type properly. It doesn't matter, if I can't understand it, how can I respond?

#7. Their point follows party lines, and thus doesn't offer anything to the discussion. Man there are certain people who when you go to their profile, it looks just like the profile of another person. It's like it's a big club with no original thought.

#8. They commit logical fallacies.  You don't stay on point, you try to detract from the topic, or make it a personal attack. You can't comment on the topic proper, so you use tricks, whether you know it or not, to try and blur the topic at hand.

#9. Some people just want to be mad. They come to the site for no other reason than to see what will upset them that day. They're just drama queens.

#10. I got a guy for this. We've got a great digital guy here. In fact, he's kind of why I wrote this. I did sneak a peak the other day and someone thought I was responding to a post. That's not me. For the last year or so I've discontinued complete using FMX or the FMX icon when I reply to posts. It's my name and ugly mug.
