Tequila May Help Lower Blood Sugar and Add Weigh Loss
Over the weekend my family was in town to celebrate the graduation of my sister's twin daughters from Texas Tech. Needless to say, there was plenty of alcohol consumed to celebrate the big occasion.
This grand gathering gave me the opportunity to share some knowledge about the magical powers of the agave plant as they knocked back shot after shot of tequila. So, I thought I'd share these interesting facts on the plant that brings happiness to so many in more ways than one.
In all seriousness, according to a study the sugars found in the agave plant may actually help lower blood sugar levels in people with Type II Diabetes and could even help obese people lose weight.
The short version of the study is this: researchers fed mice their regular diet, but added some of the agavins into their water. The result was the mice who received the agavins had lower blood sugar levels and they ate less than the mice who had plain water.
Now if that's not a reason to have a shot of tequila a day I don't know what is.
I'll drink to that....
