UPDATE (4 p.m. 1/16/15): Officials with Texas Boys Ranch announced the campus was cleared as of 2:15 p.m. The campus was cleared just after 10 a.m. when the threat was discovered. Members of Texas Boys Ranch Security, Boys Ranch Volunteer Fire Department, Oldham County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Amarillo Police Department K-9 unit swept the campus, but found nothing suspicious. The Oldhan County Sheriff'f Office, along with Boys Ranch Security, are now investigating the source of the threat.

Cal Farley CEO and President Dan Adams said they will move forward from today by ensuring staff is prepared for other events of this nature in the future.

“We’re planning a review with the law enforcement agencies involved to identify any areas where our response could be improved,” Adams said. “But, overall, I’m very pleased with how our staff and law enforcement handled today’s events.”

 

 

 

Officials with Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch High School announced the school was evacuated Friday after a threatening statement was discovered at the campus in Oldham County near Amarillo.

The contents of the statement have not been released, but school and law enforcement officials believe it indicates the "possibility of a destructive device at the school."

Cal Farley’s said in a statement around noon on Friday, January 16, that local law enforcement and Cal Farley’s officials were sweeping the school, but no suspicious items or packages had been discovered at that time.
