The Texas Tech Red Raider baseball team was back on the diamond this weekend, opening up the regular season against the Milwaukee Panthers. Tech won three of four games during the weekend stretch.

The Red Raiders put up 12 runs during the season opener and allowed only three to the Panthers on Friday.

Saturday featured a doubleheader, as Tech dropped the first contest 10-3 but got revenge during the second by a 9-1 tally.

Sunday, the Red Raiders again put up 12 runs and this time didn't allow any runs during a two-hit day for the Panthers.

Junior Stephen Smith was a big reason for the high offensive output Tech was able to put together, as he batted .571 during the series, logging four doubles, five RBIs, and seven runs scored. He was adorned with "Big 12 Player of the Week" honors for his performance.

Tech travels to Huntsville to play Sam Houston State Tuesday evening.
