What happened Wednesday night in Kansas City was exactly the thing that couldn't happen for the Red Raiders to ensure they'd go dancing: a first-round loss to the lowest Big 12 tourney seed, TCU.

A simply dismal performance was turned in by the Red Raiders, as the Horned Frogs handled business by a 67-62 tally.

It's hard to point at the problem for Tech, but the entire team, aside from Justin Gray and Zach Smith, looked uninspired, flat, and just all-around lackadaisical.

Gray and Smith both put up 13 points, as Norense Odiase was the only other Tech player in double figures. Toddrick Gotcher was held to nine points, as Aaron Ross had perhaps the most frustrating night scoring just a pair of points on a late layup.

Now, the NCAA Tournament talks have a hint of mystery tied to them. Now, it's hard to say the team is a lock, though, given the résumé, it'd be a tough call to send Tech to the NIT. Before the loss, Tech looked like a 7-seed across the board. Now, we might see a 9 or 10-seed through different outlets.

Sunday will determine the Red Raiders' postseason fate.
