Who saw this coming? The fifth-ranked team in the country...defeated? Yes, indeed, that was the case. Your Texas Tech Red Raiders blitzed, smashed, and hammered the Mountaineers 49-14.

The scoring onslaught began with a 39-yard strike for a touchdown from Doege to Jace Amaro, leading to a 19-yard tiptoe grab by Eric Ward for six as well. West Virginia responded with seven quickly, but that score was the Mountaineers' last until the end of the fourth quarter.

In between those two Mountaineer scoring possessions, Texas Tech blasted the West Virginia defense, torching the secondary four times, scoring four pass touchdowns. Doege threw three scoring tosses to Darrin Moore, the yardage on those being 2, 29, and 7 respectively, and then another toss to Marcus Kennard for six. SaDale Foster ran a 56-yard dash to the endzone with less than a minute to go in the first half.

All in all, the 49 points put up by Tech was completely unforseen by most, making this one of the biggest upsets of the year so far.

We'll definitely tune in next week as Tech travels to Fort Worth to take on TCU.
