Though we're a few months away from officially beginning the 2015 college football season, Texas Tech got things going early with the annual Spring Game, this time down in Midland.

Due to renovations to the Jones, the team had to do battle with each down south in the Permian Basin. The team looked fairly sharp, considering it's just spring, committing few penalties and having solid play.

Multiple people had many good things to say about the defense, who looked a bit faster and more intense.

Another area of question throughout the past season and offseason was quarterback play, though Patrick Mahomes, who splits time between baseball and football, also looked fairly sharp. He led the Raiders to multiple scoring drives, even with a few questionable throws. Davis Webb did not participate in the action Saturday, but Iowa transfer Nic Shimonek did.

Time will truly tell how much these Red Raiders have improved from last year, but we got a little bit closer to finding out Saturday and the general synopsis is positive. Guns Up!
