Thousands cheered when the Texas Tech fox made a grand return to Jones AT&T Stadium during the game against Arizona State. And then they booed when the fox was caught by animal control.

We contacted Lubbock Animal Services and spoke to Assistant Director Kia Riemath, who told us that the agile fox took around 45 minutes to catch. This was after it ran across the field and was spotted into a ladies restroom.

The officer who finally caught the fox was booed by fans, but come on - he's just doing his job!

Riemath said that the fox was treated with care and placed inside a hide-up box -- for the safety of the officer and the animal alike. Another officer then transported the fox outside of the city, where it was released into the wild.

The fox probably has a family still residing at The Jones, said Riemath. In other words, it might not be the last time Texas Tech fans see a fox during a game.
