There have been a lot of idiots out there who somehow forgot that all the laws and all the etiquette that was in place before the election are still there.  There are also great stories of ordinary folks standing up to wrongheaded behavior.

Let's you and I agree on one thing; we would much rather decide on our own, rather than have the government tells us how to treat people. In between the stories of people behaving like uncouth idiots are great stories of regular people standing up against nonsense.

You should never put yourself in danger and it's important that you carefully weigh any situation as it develops, but you have great tools at your disposal. First, just by saying "no" you can stop most incidents of bullying. The truth is, bullies hate to be exposed and hate to be called on their bad behavior. Next up is the camera on your phone. People will mostly stop their idiocy if they know they are being filmed. Finally, you can call authorities to the scene of the incident and let the professionals sort it out.

There's no reason that anyone should be singled out or picked on. No president or congressman is going to come to town and step in, it's up to us ordinary people to define what we consider acceptable behavior. It's up to us to speak up and shape the communities we live in.  I hope you never have to be a hero, but I hope you're up to the challenge.
