When I first got into radio, (big) bands weren't really doing covers. Yeah, every so often one would pop up, but they weren't as evident as they are today. When the tidal wave of these big bands doing covers first hit, I was adamantly opposed to the idea of cover songs. To me, they were for small bands who play the bars on the weekend. Yeah, that sounds a bit harsh, but it's what I honestly felt. Then, I finally talked to a couple of these bigger artists about their decision to do covers and they resoundingly replied that they were paying homage to the great bands and songs that influenced them. That's when I shed the opposition to covers.

Since then, I've become a huge fan of cover songs, be it by a big or small band. Don't get me wrong, I still love a great original, but hearing a different rendition of a cool tune is good for the ears.

So, with all that being said, I decided to share my favorite covers. This list doesn't discount all the other great cover songs out there, these are just some of my favorites.

This list is in no particular order, listen to them all and let me know about your favorite cover songs.
