When one thinks of an "intersection", one tends to think of a couple city streets crossing, maybe in a big plus sign pattern. Technically, an intersection would be where any two or more things intersect.  I've got three of these places that will run a cold chill up your spine.

There may be intersections that have more fatalities or wrecks, but I have three that confuse, bewilder and frustrate people.

South Loop 289 Offramp/Access Road Onto Slide

It's traffic and a weird growth pattern that make this a scary place to be. Think about it, you have all of those people headed to the Mall and people exiting the business on the Loop 289 access road (like Rudy's and Old Navy). This intersection wouldn't get a second glance in a larger city, but it's one of the few places in Lubbock that suffers serious congestion, especially on a Saturday afternoon.

The Four Way Intersection Of I-27 and Loop 289

I travel this one daily and I can tell you at least a couple times a week (I am not exaggerating) I see people go the wrong way on this feature. But, it gets worse, with the stop signs frequently being run (leading to some fatalities).  What you have here is a four-way intersection thats shaped like a tic tac to board, that has a flyover and a fly under  I guess it's just too much for people to handle.

The Quick Flyover From I-27 To South Loop 289

This quick shot under a bridge and up an overpass happens real fast with no real notice that you should decelerate. I can also tell you that this bridge, maybe due to its size, seems to be the first one to freeze in Lubbock. Since it's steep, the freezing can really make it a hairy trip on a cold morning.  It's a little hard to make out from the picture, but that curve hits a pretty steep elevation really quick.
