I do hate to see the tenure of our Mayor come to an end. He was exactly what we needed at the time, and that was somebody to "steady the boat". Lubbock (especially LP&L) was in rough shape before he took over. As much as I hate to see him go, it's probably time.

I don't know that the next Mayor will up Mr. Robertson's game. In fact I doubt it, but at the State Of The City Speech, the big selling point seemed to be that we aren't in anymore debt than we were four years ago. We didn't improve, we didn't get worse, we just kept things the same.  This means it took four years to stop the bleeding and we don't really have much to show for it. This is once again the "kicking the can down the road" plan which always seems to back fire.

Anyways, can we get a dreamer or a planner for our next Mayor? I don't wan't to hear the same b.s. that every politician vomits out "I'm more conservative, guns, immigrants, blah, blah..".  How about for once we get someone that tells us what this city should strive for instead of be against?  How about we figure out how to get debt free, or at least improve the city with the money we have?  Sure little projects have been done here and there, but none are really forward looking. This town is on a treadmill and we're going nowhere.
