I do so love making lists and Halloween is one of my favorite topics. Enjoy ten songs to give you the creeps this Halloween season.

So what is my criteria? Mainly songs to put you a little on edge, to creep you out a bit. Sure "Werewolves Of London" or "Thriller" may relate to Halloween a bit, but they really aren't that creepy.  I also wanted songs that you've probably heard before and really rock.  I'm sure there's tons of Celtic Black Witch Metal or something that might be good, but I wanted stuff you could say "Oh yeah!) too.  With my sure fire Top 10 you can rattles some bones All Hallows Eve.

    This Is Halloween

    Marilyn Manson

This one is SO obvious.  Sure, there's a good dozen or so Manson songs creepy enough for the list, but with this one you get it all! It's creepy, names the holiday and really spreads the sinister joy of the movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas.

    Black Sabbath

    Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath invented "the dark side". They took things to strange and creepy places pretty much before anyone. This song paints a mental picture that is just unshakable. The tolling of the bells, the sinister riffs, it's all in there.

    Black #1

    Type O Negative

This is Peter Steele's masterpiece. It features creepy organ and a Lilly Munster reference. I think that's about all that is necessary to make this list.

    Square Hammer

    Ghost

You probably don't know this song that well yet, but you will. This song will be taking your breath away all Halloween long. Like many on the list, they have multiple songs who could be on here, but I think this will be their breakthrough track.

    Sympathy For The Devil

    The Rolling Stones

It's amazing that the creepy vibe of this track has never gone away. At this point The Rolling Stones represent another time, another place and another generation, but this song fits perfect into any Halloween playlist.

    Dragula

    Rob Zombie

How do you pick any one song from Rob Zombie? It was a crapshoot between this, "Living Dead Girl" and the actual theme to "House Of 1000 Corpses". The video for this one made it the winner.

    (Don't Fear) The Reaper

    Blue Oyster Cult

There was never a time that this song was not creepy, THEN it was used over the opening scenes of the t.v. adaptation of Stephen King's "The Stand".  This song goes hand in hand with the world ending "Captain Trips" virus.

    Can't Speak-Danzig

What is it about this song that makes it sound so claustrophobic. Every time I hear it I envision someone being buried alive in a coffin. Seriously, if you can help me figure out where I get that vision from, please let me know.

    Welcome To My Nightmare-Alive Cooper

Alice had a number of songs to consider. "Feed My Frankenstein" was a close second, but it was a bit too cheery for this list. "Welcome To My Nightmare" conjures up thoughts of a madman's speech before he does some really terrible things to you.

    Number Of The Beast-Iron Maiden

When I first worked nights, I had a feature called "The Midnight Metal Shop". I seriously couldn't play this song without getting a serious case of the heebie-jeebies. There was just something about it that seemed a little too authentic in it's satanic tale.
