I had this one simple thought and at it's core it's so very true:  If you're opinion is the same as everyone else's, then you're opinion really doesn't matter.  Think about it. If you're not around, someone will offer the same opinion.  Yeah, there are things like votes that require a count, but in most cases you're not adding anything to the conversation when you follow the herd.

It can be a bit tough to stick out from the crowd. You're thought of as weird if you think differently. In these parts you can even be thought of as "the enemy" if you don't go along with the current political climate.  Seriously though, who cares?  Somebody had to be of the opinion that the world wasn't flat in order to prove it wasn't.  Somebody had to say "hey let's quit burning witches" when the majority of a town thought it was a good way to spend a Saturday night.  There has to be a vote of dissent in order to achieve progress.  Don't get me wrong, there are many "voices of dissent" that get us nowhere (these are the people we call assh@les), but they are necessary so we'll think about what we're doing.

For instance,  if you're a straight up conservative, sorry you mean nothing. If you're a straight up liberal, sorry you mean nothing. These are common denominators that we can wipe from the equation. Guess what, we already know what you think and what you're going to say ahead of time.  What we need to listen to is the voices outside of those categories to find real views, thoughts, opinions and maybe even solutions.

So let me say this again:  If you're opinion is the same as everyone else's, then you're opinion really doesn't matter. Think for yourself, speak from the heart and don't be afraid to go against the flow.
