Yep, the headline here was clickbait, because I'm calling B.S. on the idea that music now is of a lesser quality than it ever was.  The music hasn't changed, some of you have.

Before I continue, I will concede one thing, there might be less great bands, but there are still some great bands out there.

I thought I heard it all then I heard a guy say "there hasn't been any good music since Slipknot first came out".  Wholly molly, you know what just happened there?  THAT guy just turned into his dad. No one ever thinks the music of the next generation is up to snuff.  We have reached the point where a lot of the guys who like Slipknot now have kids in elementary school. The first Slipknot album came out in 1999 and it's been eleven years since the album that really put them on the map, 2004's "Vol 3. The Subliminal Verses".  Well I could make a list of great bands that have broke out since that time, but I'll stick with just one: Avenged Sevenfold.  Yeah, they broke loose ten years ago, but their biggest album was just five years and ago and they just had another killer one two years ago. I could give many more examples but if you don't respect this example then I'm not going to waste my time.

It's funny as you get older one of two things happens, you either stick with the music of your generation and shake your cane at the new bands, or you keep current with the new bands and shake your head at some of the old bands you used to like.   So, you can call it "slim pickins" out there, but there is there is at least some really great tunes out there that I'm glad I'm around to hear.
