Believe it or not, this isn't just a "filler blog". Hitting the 5000+ mark gives me tons to talk about. First and foremost, this is 5002 with this software. I used to write blogs before they were called blogs. One of the ones that caused the most controversy was a slam on Frenship High for not allowing black t-shirts.

Let's focus on the current chunk of blogs.  Both myself and the radio station often get criticized for not just sticking "with the music". Well, out of those 5002 blogs, I'd say at least 4500 or more were about music. Here's the fun part of that though, the 500 or so that were not about music got more page views than the 4500 that were. You see, no matter how much people complain, they still tend to like the observational/controversial stuff more. I would also like to add to this topic that I am on air at least 25 hours a week on FMX and on KEYJ in Abilene 29 hours a week, so yeah..until you listen to all those hours, I don't think anyone should complain about what I do when I'm not on air. Also, RARELY do we address any of even the mildly controversial topics on air, other than to occasionally say "check it out on the web".

KFMX is over 25,000 fans and we gain at least 100 more each week.  You can't keep that many people happy. When there's a controversial blog people tend to see the ten or twenty people pitching a fit underneath it, but fail to note that the blog usually gets hundreds of likes. You see, people rarely put an opinion down when they agree with you, or at least don't object a bunch.  Also, the people who generally raise hell are rarely even within our listening area.

Here's another fun fact, after I have a controversial post, I get a TON of personal Facebook requests.  In addition I get a lot of private messages from people who agree but don't want to be put on blast.  After the mini-blowup where I offered to perform Lubbock's first same-sex marriage (an offer that still stands), I got several private messages that completely strengthened my resolve. There are people hurting out there who need an advocate and I'm happy to be him. Also, if you haven't figured it out yet, I no longer manage, block or respond on the FMX Facebook page except for rare occasions (and I try to do that under my name and not the radio stations).

So there you go. I just thought that some of you folks would like a little insight into the process of blogging.  You guys be awesome to each other and don't waste your life arguing on the internet!  State your opinion and move on. Life is too short to get mad about dumb stuff.
