Some 4,000-odd Clovis, New Mexico, residents remain without power as of 9:30 p.m. Sunday, December 27, with Xcel Energy working to repair 99 events affecting those customers. Power is not expected to be returned to all 4,324 customers Sunday night.

Xcel reports 11,000 residents were without power at some point Sunday in Clovis, with a low of around 3,000 at one point.

Over all of Xcel’s Texas-New Mexico region, more than 36,000 were without power Sunday.

If you lose power and heat, you can do a few simple things to minimize heat loss in your home:

  • Put blankets or towels against doorsills to cut down on drafts
  • Make sure your windows are not just closed, but locked. This creates a tighter seal allowing less air to escape.
  • Stay in one central room and close the doors to that room.
