The usual April 15th deadline for taxes was extended due to the weekend, but now that's over.

We had this discussion on the RockShow. It seems like there are two types of people, those who stress over taxes and those who don't even bother to do them. Well, no matter what group you're in, today's the day for you to make a big decision; either get them in on time or deal with whatever consequences there are for not doing them.

It used to be that post offices would stay open late to facilitate late filing, but with the growth of e-filing, it's not a big a deal as it used to be. In fact, all Lubbock post offices are planning regular hours and will close at 5 p.m.  Some post office drop boxes are open a little later than that, but you are advised to call ahead and check those times.

You can get an extension that will serve you through October 15th, but you have to file for that by close of business today too.

I'm here to wish you luck. Taxes and plumbing are two things I pay professionals to do. I don't care if I have to eat Ramen for a month, it's worth it to me to pay a pro.
