Sometimes the English language fails us and sometimes it's just misapplied. I guess 'tolerance" means the willingness to accept other beliefs and opinions. Then again, the secondary definition really helps hone in on what should be tolerated.

The secondary definition of "tolerance" is "the permissible range of variation...". When you put these two definitions together, you get a better idea of where I'm going with this.

I've seen a number of people say "sure your side preaches tolerances, but you don't tolerate my opinion". Well, in all of the cases Ive seen, that latter opinion was something that should not be tolerated, that is, it was not within a permissible range of what should be tolerated.

Looking at this more simply, you would not "tolerate" someone calling your kids names, you would also not "tolerate" an infection or for me, I don't "tolerate" people who put ketchup on friend eggs (yeah, thought it was time for some humor in this).

Applying this to the world right now, I have already proven in several blogs, I am willing to tolerate and support the winning sides position that the country needs to go in another direction, I will NOT tolerate hate speech or actions of any kind.

So when you ask for "tolerance" or claim others lack of it, I can only quote  Indio Montoya  in the Princess Bride, "You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means".
